Summer Camp Sports
William Lawrence Camp offers instruction in a wide range of both team and individual sports and competes with neighboring camps in basketball, soccer, baseball, tennis, street hockey, ultimate frisbee, and kickball as well as riflery and archery. We also have an extensive intramural sports program with activities such as LaCrosse, frisbee golf, flag football, water-sports and track and field events known as Blue/White competitions. We have a relatively non-competitive program, where participation by all campers is encouraged.
Tennis
Tennis, one of the many athletic offerings at William Lawrence, has beautifully maintained wooded facilities and even better instruction. Campers are provided instruction at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Like all other athletic programs, tennis equipment is provided to the campers, however, children may bring their own tennis raquet from home. In today's day and age of iPod's and computer screens, tennis offers every camper dexerity, fitness, hand-eye coordination and discipline. |
Street Hockey
Stick handling, passing, defensive zone coverage, offensive zone coverage, killing the penalty, goal tending, the break out, are all covered in street hockey here at William Lawrence. Much like all athletics, street hockey comes in the form of a class. Inter-camp street hockey games are also a big favorite, so bring your stick, aim high and tight. |
Soccer
Coaches from overseas enhance a strong soccer program on our well-groomed, lined soccer 'pitch'. |
Basketball
Enjoy intercamp, intramural, instructional and recreational basketball on any one of several courts, including our new NCAA regulation court. |
Baseball
Our baseball program at William Lawrence Camp has always been a favorite for our campers. Whether it be our intercamp competitions or just a pickup game during freeswim, the baseball diamond is ready. |
LaCrosse
For a fun mind-and-body workout, campers head to the athletic field for instruction in lacrosse. Armed with the latest protective equipment, they can safely work to learn and improve their skills at field positioning, passing, guarding, blocking, goal-shooting, and the toughest of all – cradling the ball on both sides of the body. Pick-up games provide fun at any skill level. The camp provides equipment for all, but you are welcome to bring your own lacrosse stick with that sweet pocket. |
