WLC COVID-19 Update 4

Dear WLC Family,

Here is the latest on what we are doing during this very uncertain time...

  • We continue our planning to open camp for summer 2020! Still unsure if we will be able to open, we are planning different scenarios for the summer. To ensure the safety of our campers, families and staff members, we are thinking that we would welcome campers mid-July and we would only hold one 4-week session to allow us to create a sort of "bubble" around camp.
  • We are moving the Final Payment Due Date to June 15th. This will allow us the maximize our decision-making time. Click here for our updated COVID-19 cancellation policy.
  • We have organized Zoom chats for our Alumni based on different decades. If you were a camper or staff in multiple decades we'd love to see you on all those calls! Please add the schedule below to your calendar. Zoom links can also be found on our website under Re-ZOOM-ions (thanks Andre Amazeen for that awesome term!)
    • 60s and 70s Re-ZOOM-ion hosted by Jon Haycock and Neil Hulbert on Wednesday, May 13th at 7pm EST. Click here to join!
    • 80s Re-ZOOM-ion hosted by Chris Summersgill and Jon Crellin on Tuesday, May 12th at 7pm EST. Click here to join!
    • 90s Re-ZOOM-ion hosted by Nat Crane and Jordan Braxton-Leonard on Sunday, May 17th at 3pm EST. Click here to join!
    • 2000s Re-ZOOM-ion hosted by Drew Duncan and Tom Oxtoby on Sunday, May 17th at 4:30pm EST. Click here to join!
    • 2010s Re-ZOOM-ion hosted by Alex Camerino and Thomas Cleary THIS SUNDAY, May 10th at 3pm EST. Click here to join!
    • Nat will be joining all the calls to say hi and provide updates.
  • We are cancelling our work weekends but hope that you and a friend will be able to come up for a day to work at camp. Please let us know if and when you'd like to come help out. Weekdays work better for us.
    • HUGE shout out to John Webster, Chris Hyde and Geoffrey Erickson for spending the day getting the Knoll cleaned up!
  • We are finding resources to share with our families, such as this document from the Association of Camp Nursing Healthy Camp Starts at Home.
  • Though meager, we have received disaster relief funds from the Small Business Administration! These funds will allow us to pay operating costs into early June. We are counting on donations and loans to help us through these financially challenging times.

There are a few things we would love for you to be doing while stuck at home...

  • Stay safe, healthy and optimistic!
  • If you know any young men whose plans have changed for the summer (maybe their internship was cancelled) please send them our way! If we open camp, we are going to need staff.
  • If you don't have social media, see our updates on our website under WLC at Home (https://www.wlcamp.org/wlc-at-home.html) and in the announcements on the Homepage.
  • We would like to congratulate Daniel McGee, Jon Hippenmeyer and The Crellin Family for winning our first three WLC Trivias via Kahoot! Join us every Wednesday at 4pm EST on Zoom (click this link https://zoom.us/j/98882030619 each week) to play WLC Trivia.
    • You will need one device (computer) for Zoom and an additional device (phone or tablet) for Kahoot.com.
    • Make sure to invite your WLC friends to play and then stay on Zoom afterwards for some virtual hang time!
  • Follow us on Instagram @williamlawrencecamp
  • Friend Bill Larry on Facebook (you must have a Facebook account) so you can watch "The Most Interesting Man on the Knoll" updates.
  • Help us build our Alumni base! Our new interns will be reaching out to ensure that we have the most updated information in our database for you - please respond to them.
  • Follow the William Lawrence Camp Page on LinkedIn (you must have a LinkedIn account).
  • Consider WLC when you're thinking about charitable contributions. Click here to make an online donation.
  • Please do not remit any further payments for summer 2020 until you receive an update from us. As a reminder, at this time, June 15th is the new final payment due date.
  • Keep day-dreaming about the awesome WLC 2020 Summer we are planning!

We can't wait to see you on the Knoll for summer 2020!
